About Us
What do you get when you combine a lifetime of athletics and coaching with a passion for jewelry? You get me, designer of custom made jewelry.
It all began at age 3 when I discovered a passion for gymnastics and ballet that lasted 16 years. After two knee dislocations and surgery it was time for a change. I began coaching gymnastics while receiving a BFA in fine and professional arts with a concentration in metals at Kent State University. During college an assistant teaching job was offered my first summer and then director of the department ever since. The summer camp is located in Harrison Maine and has taken me there for the last 14 summers.
Camp Pinecliffe was established in 1917 for girls 7-15 years old. This is where I have spent many of my summers teaching young girls the basics and fundamentals of jewelry making, sawing, soldering, roll printing, drilling and filing etc. I began teaching in 1995. I now live down by the water in a cabin with my two dogs off the back of the studio. There are roughly 230 girls in one summer and they remain at the camp for 7 weeks. There are 7 classes a day along with many other activities but jewelry and water skiing are their favorites. Over the years the Camp Pinecliffe collection, or "CP," emerged. Not only do I sell the jewelry, there is a section of the campers work throughout the years. For more information about Camp Pinecliffe please visit www.pinecliffe.com
Meanwhile, running turned to 5k, 10k, ½ marathons and marathons. Then I needed a change which began my love for triathlons. Sprint triathlons began and quickly progressed into Olympic distance, ½ Ironman to full Ironman triathlons. I have now finished four Ironman Triathlons. Florida in 2004 and 2007, Brazil in 2006, Arizona in 2008 and Wilmington, NC's first Iron distance triathlon, Beach 2 Battleship, on Nov. 1, 2008. I have raced in over 70 triathlons since May of 2002 and will continue for the love of the sport. Training for the B2B this year was especially tricky, as I was also designing 111 awards for the event. It was swim, bike, run, cut, solder, polish. No nap time for me!
